3.1. Number of requested experts per category and number of man-days per expert

This consultancy requires one Junior expert working for a period of 220 days, to be carried out over 365 calendar days (based on a 5 day working week). The expert might be requested to work for 6 (or rarely 7) days per week when conducting certain specific tasks requiring to work during the week ends following the a prior written agreement between the delegation and the contractor.

The EU would like to have the implementation of this assignment as continuous as possible; however, given the difficult living conditions in Juba, a system of regular short leaves can be proposed and agreed with the EU as part of the drafting of the work plan at the beginning of the assignment.

 

3.2. Profile required

The expert will possess the following qualifications:

§  A university degree in development studies, rural development or similar fields.

§  At least 5 years of professional experience in development cooperation, particularly in the domains of food security and agriculture support projects;

§  Experience in the management, coordination and/or supervision of projects implemented by Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO);

§  Previous working experience in South Sudan;

§  Willingness and ability to travel to remote areas;

§  Good knowledge of project cycle management, particularly monitoring and evaluation methodologies;

§  Excellent negotiation and communication skills;

§  Excellent verbal and written English is essential;

§   Knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
